The OrthoTraining Orthodontic Assistant 60-Day Apprenticeship Program

OrthoTraining offers a 60-day Orthodontic Assistant Apprenticeship Program that comprehensively trains student orthodontic assistants in-office, preparing them to perform at the highest-level clinically in the practice and meet state licensure requirements. This course is intended for individuals who want to be chairside orthodontic assistants and are employed by a state-specialty-licensed orthodontist.

These trained individuals place braces, change orthodontic wires, assesses patient progress, adjust a patient’s orthodontic appliance following the doctor’s instructions, and safely remove the braces and place retainers under the doctor’s supervision. This training teaches the highest standard of performance of these procedures to protect patient safety.

The individuals who take this Orthodontic Assistant Apprenticeship program learn from very detailed online presentations how to perform all steps in bonding and the other chairside procedures. Students learn this material on their own time when they can focus. While learning the material, they can work in the office helping other employees. They are learning and doing at the same time which reinforces recall. When ready, the student can take the course online Knowledge Quiz. When the student passes this quiz, the student is ready for hands-on training.

The OrthoTraining Orthodontic Basics 8-Week Mini-Course Program

The OrthoTraining offers the Orthodontic Basics 8-Week Mini-Course that trains in the office the dental professionals and the dental team in efficient orthodontic systems to deliver high-quality orthodontic care to patients in the practice.

The efficient systems learned from this course include conducting the comprehensive new Patient Orthodontic Exam, producing, and analyzing orthodontic records, and developing an orthodontic treatment plan that clinical team members can follow during treatment. The clinical team produces the orthodontic records including photographs, panoramic images, and intraoral scans and models. The doctor learns to assess the underlying facial bone structure, facial growth patterns, ideal occlusal relationships and occlusal function, periodontal health, habits impacting the occlusion, and normal TMJ function.

The doctor develops a comprehensive orthodontic diagnosis and creates an orthodontic treatment plan. The dental team learns how to follow this treatment plan by understanding the “why” and “how” of the orthodontic care they are providing as patients progress through treatment. Using these systems reduces stress because the entire team is on the same page and works together in the delivery of the best care. This is starting orthodontic treatment with the end in mind.
