The Primary Audience for this course are employees of the office who are producing alginate impressions for fabrication of stone or plaster models of the teeth.
Course Content of 30.21-Producing Alginate Impressions and a PVS Bite
This course teaches how to produce and recognize excellent alginate impressions and a PVS bite that can be used to fabricate models of the patient’s teeth that reflect the patient’s maximum intercuspation position of the bite.
The Educational Goal and Objectives for 30.21-Producing Alginate Impressions and a PVS Bite
Goal- The goal of this course is to help the student recognize and produce excellent alginate impressions that can be used to fabricate models of the teeth.
Objectives- At the conclusion of this presentation the learner will:
- Identify the qualities of a perfect alginate impression.
- Identify defects in impressions, the causes, and correction of the defects.
- Demonstrate the step-by-step process of producing perfect mandibular and maxillary alginate impressions and state why each step is important.
- Recognize the result of not performing a step correctly, the defect it has caused, and what should be done to correct the problem.
